Maverick Helicopter's Grand Canyon Tours

Maverick Helicopters has been breaking new ground in the Las Vegas tourism market since 1995. Entrepreneur and company CEO Greg Rochna grew the service from a modest two helicopters to a the largest fleet of ECO-Star helicopters in the world.

Does the type of helicopter matter when it comes to flying over something as majestic as the Grand Canyon? Absolutely! The ECO-Star features front-facing, upgraded leather, theater-style seating. The cabin is 23% larger than most other tour helicopters, and is replete with wraparound glass for panoramic visibility (bring your camera!).

Each helicopter is equiped voice-activated headsets on which they can chat with everyone onboard including the pilot. In addition, each aircraft includes a multi-camera sky-cam video system that captures your Canyon trip and records it to a peronal DVD. Make sure to request this when you deplane.

Maverick offers a full menu of tours to the Grand Canyon. Pick from select trips to the South Rim or the South Rim. The typical tour includes pick up and drop off at your hotel. Flights originate from the heliport at McCarran International, the official airport of Las Vegas.

Flight time for most Canyon trips is approximately 3.5 hours. En route to either the South or West Rim, you'll fly over Lake Las Vegas, Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, and Fortification Hill, an extinct volcano.

Hold your breath as you descend 3,500 feet to the Canyon's floor. There, you will land, deplane, and explore. Included are snacks, an assortment of beverages, and Champange. Enjoy the exquisite beauty of your natural surroundings as the mighty Colorado River flows 300 feet below.

Maverick offers its clients plenty of options to upgrade their tours to include a visit to the Grand Canyon Skywalk, Hummer tours, horseback rides, and river rafting. You also have the choice of seeing the Grand Canyon at sunrise or sunset.

Returning to Las Vegas, you fly through the Grand Canyon, the Bowl of Fire (a unique landscape of red rock formations), Downtown Las Vegas, and The Strip.

There are a host of operators that conduct helicopter flights over the Grand Canyon, including Maverick Helicopters.
