Grand Canyon Railways Hotel - A Relaxing Way to Visit the Grand Canyon

Travel back in time when you get to the Grand Canyon via Grand Canyon Railways. The Railway originally began running in 1901, when it was about the only way to get to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Today, the Railway runs from Williams Arizona right to the South Rim, and you can spend the night at the Grand Canyon Railways Hotel in Williams, right next to the train depot.

Kid Friendly

The Grand Canyon Railways Hotel is built to resemble an historic hotel of the early 1900s in Williams, but inside, you'll find contemporary rooms, comfortable lobby areas, and a beautiful bar in the lounge located off the lobby. Families will find plenty of things for the kids to enjoy before they board the train, including a great play area and indoor game room. There's an indoor swimming pool and hot tub, too.

Dining

Dining for the Grand Canyon Railways Hotel is located across the street, next to the Williams Train Depot, where your Grand Canyon Railways adventure will begin. The restaurant, called Max & Thelma's Restaurant, serves up breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets seven days a week, and Grand Canyon Railways lodging packages include meals at the restaurant. The hotel is also only two blocks from downtown Williams and historic Route 66, where you can find more restaurants and shops.

The Rooms

When you stay at the hotel, you have a choice of standard rooms with two queen beds, cable TV, a coffee maker, and an alarm clock. Suites include two queen beds, a living room area, kitchenette with a wet bar, microwave, coffee maker, and mini-refrigerator, cable TV, and a pullout sleeper in the sofa. The Rail Baron Suite has a king-size bed, full kitchen and breakfast bar, living room, full-size dining table, and a separate bedroom and bath.

The Train Trip

Your trip to the Grand Canyon Railways Hotel isn't complete without the train ride directly to the Grand Canyon. The Railway operates historic 1906 and 1910 steam engines on the train, and the cars are all historic and restored as well. You'll travel north from Williams through the pinion pine high-desert forest of Northern Arizona, until you reach your destination, the Grand Canyon Depot at the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. After a short walk up the hill, you'll find the rim of the canyon with amazing and breathtaking views of this natural wonder.

Pet Resort

Don't leave your pet at home when you visit the Grand Canyon! The Grand Canyon Railways Pet Resort offers indoor, heated and cooled accommodations for your pets, with an outdoor exercise yard for dogs, and spacious cat condos for cats. Pet parents can bring their pets' favorite dishes, foods, toys, and bones, too. The Pet Resort is available to anyone staying at the Grand Canyon Railways RV Park or Hotel. Pets need to be current on all their shots (with proof of shots) to stay at the Resort.

The Grand Canyon is one of the most majestic spots on Earth, and visiting it on the historic Grand Canyon Railways train is one way to make your visit even more memorable and enjoyable.
